HDD problem

I have the Z97 Extreme6 motherboard. New build. Two drives, one is an Evo 850 500gb SSD the other is a WD Black model WD2003FZEX 2tb HDD. The SSD installed flawlessly and I have installed the OS. The bios recognizes the WD HDD but doesn't show size ect. Also, I can see it in storage management in Windows 7 but I cant initialize it. SATA is set for AHCI. What am I doing wrong?
