That explains it, you cannot read from a drive if it has no drive letter available to it.
Thanks for posting back

I have sorted it out now. Thought I would post back if anybody else was having a problem like me. I installed deamon tools pro which decided to give me 30 virtual drives lol. I just uninstalled it now all my usb sticks work how they should.

I would deffo say its a driver problem aswell tbh. I have tried 3 usb sticks now. 2 which was working before windows 10 and the new one I have just brought. I have tried the older drivers but still the same. I will have a look at intel website for anything that can solve it. thanks

If the keyboard and mouse, or any other USB device for that matter, work on the ports then there is some kind of driver conflict going on. My money is on windows 10 generic drivers causing an issue with the somewhat older chipset. If you have tried the USB drivers from the windows 8.1 64 page and it still does not work then you can try looking on the intel downloads pages and see if there is a new USB driver for your chipset. I assume the flash drive worked prior to installing windows 10?

Also I would like to add the keyboard and mouse work in all the usb ports. I have had a look in device manager and it says under usb controllers that everything is installed. No yellow warnings.

hi thanks for the info. The usb sticks I am using is scandisk usb2 8gb with no lights on it. First I thought it may be a damaged usb stick so I brought another one. But the same thing happens. I have tried it in all the usb ports front and rear. I have installed all the updates from that link you posted but still no good. I am thinking in going back to windows 7 now if I cant sort this out.

Welcome to the forums
Am I correct in assuming that the keyboard and mouse work in all the ports but flash drives do not? When the drive/s are in the port do activity LEDs flash (assuming you have a flash drive that has one)? Are the flash drives USB 2 or 3? Have you tried booting with a flash drive to see if they are working prior to the OS loading? Your board now has windows 10 drivers available from here, make sure you have installed the INF driver. I do find it odd that there is no USB 3 driver on the windows 10 page but that may be because windows installs it's own native USB 3 driver. If you can't get the drives to work then try installing the windows 8/.1 USB drivers from here. Good luck |
