is hot plug enabled in your bios?

I Cannot Hot Swap drives.  I have the main boot drive connected to SATA3_1.  I have hot swap enabled.  If I attempt to hot swap a drive while pc is on the system crashes and loses the the main boot drive.  It does not see the main drive until I unplug it and plug it back in.
