The Fatal1ty H97 has a BIOS update, version 2.20, that adds NVMe support, which is required for all NVMe SSDs, such as the Samsung 950 Pro.
You will need to have BIOS version 2.20 installed, or a newer version, if you want to use an NVMe SSD. Your board's M.2 slot is PCIe 2.0 x2 (two lanes), while the 950 Pro can use PCIe 3.0 x4 (four lanes), just as you included in your post. I cannot guarantee that a 950 Pro will work connected to two PCIe 2.0 lanes. Normally PCIe SSDs will work when connected to fewer lanes than their maximum (2 instead of 4). Since no one has a 950 Pro yet to check that, we don't know. If it does work, it will be at a slower speed. It probably will work on your board, but no one has used one yet. |

Hello i would like understand one thing about your MB. Want to know if the new samsung ssd 950 will work on my MB. (i'm not a big pro in this) ((sry for my bad english)
SSD slot M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 (up to 32 GB/s) NVMe 1.1 MB slot: - 1 x M.2_SSD (NGFF) Socket 3, supports M.2 SATA3 6.0 Gb/s module and M.2 PCI Express module up to Gen2 x2 (10 Gb/s) If i understand right my slot is a little bit older, so will it work!? it will but with a speed limit!? or just no!?
