Hi folks,
I need some advice etc....... I've got some AsRock X99 motherboards - One of which is the X99 OC Formula 3.1 - I'm buying a 2nd hand Xeon E5-2697 V3 - ![]() I've not used a Xeon before as most CPU's I've got are i7. Reading support pages of AsRock, I need RDIMM's x 8 (not x4 these do not work) - 1st question, is the x8 (8 bit) a reference to having to use 8 X RDIMMS? 2100 Mhz RAM is supported (non OC) Higher clocks are supported over OC - 2400 Mhz > upwards. If I got 2400 Mhz ECC RDIMMS would these work just fine with the Xeon E5 2697 V3? I've got some regular RAM by Kingston / Corsair etc......varying in speed 2100 >upwards to 2666 Mhz which is NON ECC - Some of this MAY work with the Xeon E5 2697 V3 Some good feedback is needed and appreciated as some people get in a real muddle with RAM & Xeon CPU's - I don't want to be one of them - Thanks in advance -
