I recently tried using the eSATA port on my ASRock P55 Pro motherboard and found that it did not seem to work with 3.5" drives (2.5" drives work fine). Reading around the subject it seems that this is most likely because it only supports 5V rather than 12V power despite the labelling of 'Power eSATA'. I could not find any information in the manual to indicate the power output, but it seems that laptops typically  provide 5V and desktops 12V.

Can anyone confirm that the P55 Pro only supports 5V power and that it cannot be used with 3.5" drives?
