MCE (Mulit Core Enhancement) seems to be the setting you are referring to. It is basically a light overclock that forces all cores to boost to the full single core boost clock rather than the default "all core" boost value. It will net you a decent performance boost in situations where you are using more cores but otherwise behaves the same as stock, the frequency is not "pegged".
Typically intel CPUs boost something like this: 1 core : 3.8ghz 2 cores : 3.7ghz 3 cores : 3.5ghz 4 cores : 3.3ghz Base clock: 3ghz In the above case, MCE being enabled makes the cores all boost to 3.8ghz regardless of how many are in use. The cores will not be locked to 3.8ghz however, they will only boost when needed, just like they do with stock settings. I hope this clears up your concerns

I installed the beta v2.50 BIOS. Seems stable. One caveat noted below. Question about one setting. The "run all cores at max frequency at same time" setting. Does that mean it pegs the cores at max speed, or does that simply mean it allows all cores to run max speed at the same time if needed? And if the latter can't it already do that? Is there a BIOS manual? Caveat on the BIOS. Seems that if you click 'YES' to save & exit using the mouse, the settings don't save. If I just hit 'enter' from keyboard then the changes save.
