My guess would be that the CPU is overheating.
Use a quality thermal paste and ensure that the heatsink is making proper contact to the top of the CPU. |

Hello,
I setup a new ASRock X299 Taichi motherboard with Intel Core I5 7640x CPU + 4 GB DDR4 RAM and NVidia graphics card. Initially, I had a SATA HDD plugged in with Windows 10 installed in it. Windows booted up once everything was fine until I powered it off and after a while turned it back on. First, the system was freezing on Windows boot logo. Later on, I disconnected the HDD, only CPU, RAM and Graphics card plugged in. I boot into BIOS by pressing F2 during boot. It goes into BIOS and after about 20 seconds (sometimes 30~40) the system freezes. It doesn't respond to keyboard, Clock that is displayed in BIOS screen freezes. I checked hardware monitor for CPU temperature it is around 40~45 degree Celsius. I tried changing RAM to different slots, changed to a completely different RAM, moving the graphics card to a different slot, it's the same every time. After power up, no matter what I do, the system freezes within a minute. Any idea to root-cause the problem would be really appreciated. Thanks!
