Hello There,
I ran a 7 2700 cpu on a x570 steel legend mainboard with latest bios. Changed the cpu for a 7 8500x and memory (QVL). Unfortunately the computer won?™t boot and can?™t enter the bios (set at default settings). The computer continuesly restarts. I thought it?™s a dodgy cpu and even got a new one from my supplier, but still the same symptoms. I noticed that some others also have this issue. Any suggestions? OS: Win. 10 pro 22H2-19045.1889 Adrenalin: 22.5.1 Chipset: 4.06.10.651 Motherboard: Asrock X570 Steel Legend (bios v.3.90) CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X GPU: Radeon RX 6500 XT Memory: G Skill Flare F4-3200C16-8GFX (2x8GB) PSU: Seasonic Focus Plus Gold 550w |

What BIOS version is your board running? The 5800x needs 3.00 or later.
If you need to update your BIOS you will have to follow the steps ASRock shared here: https://download.asrock.com/TSD/Ryzen5000/X570%20Steel%20Legend.pdf And update to 3.00. You will need to use your old CPU for the update then once updated you can swap in the new one and try it again. Edited by Xaltar - 27 Aug 2022 at 1:15am |

As stated bios v.3.90
I've also tried v.3.80 to no avail but I will try v.3.00 |

Make sure you use the guide, if you updated previously without doing so then that
is probably the issue. There was some quirk when adding support for the 5000 series that caused problems which is why ASRock created that guide to sort it out. It only happens when updating for Ryzen 5000 support with a 2000 series or older CPU. |

Okay thanks for the info. I presume the usb disk has to be FAT formatted?

I placed the EFI folder and X570_Steel_Legend folder into usb stick,
but after system boot the stick is not visible in the bootmenu. Via bios settings I can set the bootorder for usb stick on top. After reboot I have a Shell, but after entering fs0 I get 'fs0 is not recognized as an internal or external command' |

You need to type:
Make sure your flash drive is formatted as EFI bootable. You can use this guide if you have issues: https://www.thomas-krenn.com/en/wiki/Creating_Windows_UEFI_Boot-Stick_in_Windows Fs0: means File System 0 and refers to the root directory of the USB drive. |

I made a bootable usb disk using 'diskpart'.
With'secure boot' disabled I booted into the efi shell. But it's getting a bit messy. I got this message: https://www.dropbox.com/s/kv1p84udruuqcgs/efi_update.jpg?dl=0 I'm not able to get into the usb disk. |
