Hello.

I wanted to hit up the Forum before Tech Support just to see if anyone else has experienced what I am.

I have the Z790 LiveMixer and it has been throwing some issues lately, seemingly related to USB.

The story:

Not too long ago I was trying to Backup my OS from an Internal NVME to an External Spinner and it failed during the Verify Step. The computer lost connection to the External. Okay, whatever, it happens, I gave up for the day.

Then Yesterday, I try to backup an External SSD to another External SSD and again, failure! This time it was a 1yr old SSD that I only ever used for Storage. It has never been stressed, and it just died during a bulk file transfer. It failed once, so I put a fan on it, just in case, and tried again. This time when it failed, it failed for good.

Windows sees that it is there and tries to read it, but can't and eventually says NOPE.

Anywho, I'm like this has to be USB related so why not try and update the BIOS.

BIG Mistake! Things just got worse and stuff that wasn't broken is now broken.

(I did not realize it at the time, cause I had other things on my plate, but the External Spinner that I had tried to Back Up from that Original NVME, never showed back up as a drive on my PC.)

Anywho, the BIOS update actually went smoothly. It was what happened after that is the bigger problem.

My RGB RAM that was working properly in NZXT CAM, ASRRGBLED, and SignalRGB is no longer detected. ASRRGBLED sees it now, but none of the RGB effects work. SignalRGB doesn't see the RAM at all and NZXT CAM sees the RAM but no longer provided useful information about it, which it did do before I updated the BIOS.

Oh, should mention, the BIOS reads the Make and Setting of the RAM just fine.

I also Run Lian Li L-Connect 3, which runs OpenRGB and it also sees the RAM, but cannot change the RGB settings.

Note: The RAM at one point, which usually runs Rainbow Puke as Default was Off, No RGB at all. Now it is back to Rainbow Puke, but is effectively stuck as ON. I could change the patterns and colours and even turn the RGB off before... Not any more.

Also, relating to Lian Li, I have their 8.8" screen which runs off USB and it was working perfect before the BIOS update but not after the update.

I did all the normal TSing steps, Restarts, Uninstalling all the RGB related Software, Reinstalling them one at a time, even went into the BIOS and messed with the setting there... Many, Many times. Which is annoying because Rebooting and just getting into the BIOS seems to take minutes at a time.

Nothing worked, USB/RGB related items were still a mess. Oh and Bonus, all my accounts in my Browser were signed out, as my Computer was thinking I was on a NEW Computer.

Anywho, I said stuff this and decided to find out if I could Roll Back the BIOS, and turns out you can!

Since I Rolled Back the BIOS, the Lian Li 8.8" screen issues have cleared up, the various RGB Softwares see the RAM but still cannot change its RGB, and NZXT CAM still can't read any useful info from the RAM.

However, that other External HDD that I mentioned, that had never shown back up on my PC after I updated the BIOS the first time, shows up again.

I cannot fathom how one SUCESSFUL BIOS update could cause so many problems.
I also cannot fathom how it affected USB so bad when there are basically Zero settings related to USB in the BIOS.

Cheery, Happy Holidays
