I build a server around H110M-STX motherboard. I connected cpu fan on
header "CPU_FAN1". I wish to run another fan independently, so there's
another header, which is 5 pin:
from manual: ![]() I googled a lot and couldn't find anything about this type of header (besides Dell's, which this is obviously not). I need an advice about connecting 4 wire fan (Noctua NF-A14 PWM) to this header without loosing functionality. Thanks. |

Those are fan headers for Intel's laptop style cpu coolers.
If you Google "NUC6i7KYK" and then click on the Images tab of that search you'll see what I'm talking about. For obvious reasons I shall limit my participation to what I have so far. |

Thanks for your answer.
I assume that you pointed me to fans which have heat-sink part beside fan unit (instead stacking one unit onto another). What about old-style fan that I wish to connect: is there any chance to wire it like this: 5-pin header common 4 wire fan system (labels from manual) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ FAN_SPEED_CONTROL <------> PWM SIGNAL FAN_SPEED <------> RPM (TACH) SIGNAL FAN_VOLTAGE <------> CPU FAN POWER (+12VDC) GND <------> GND |

Yes, and I do understand your answer.
I am not going to make this fan wiring until someone from this community confirms it is OK. |

The essentials here are the 12v and ground. That is easily determined with a multi meter. As for the other 2, I am not sure what would happen if they were mixed up.....
