Hi guys,
I built a system with: Z270 Extreme4 motherboard Intel i5 7600K Corsair DDR4 16GB 2400 Vengance LPX Samsung SSD 960 EVO 500GB secondary HDD Seagate 2TB Motherboard LEDs blink when I switch it on. After a second it restarts and still blinks. There is no signal on HDMI, DVD works, CPU fan works, case fans don't work. Can someone advise how can I investigate what is the issue? Is there any Dr Debug for this motherboard? I plugged both power connectors. Case doesn't have speaker so I didn't plug anything to 7-pin SPK_PLED. Thank you for any help. It is hard to google it cause it is quite new mobo. wjurek

Odd, they seem to have omitted the Dr Debug codes from your manual: http://www.asrock.com/support/faq.asp?id=334 My guess, the Corsair DDR4 16GB 2400 Vengance LPX kit isn't compatible. From what youu describe anyways. Either post the Kit P/N here or check yourself at: http://www.corsair.com/en-us/memory-finder Keep us posted please. |

No Dr. Debug display on your board.
The POST beep speaker would be connected to the four pin speaker connection. But that connector is not enabled by default in the UEFI/BIOS, so you would not hear any POST beeps until you can get into it and enable that option. You have case fans connected to the mother board, but they are not spinning? What PSU model do you have? |

CPU fan works
Case fans do not work even though they are connected to motherboard. PSU is Corsair VS650

Power not getting to the case fans but getting to the CPU fan is very odd.
Try disconnecting all the case fans and leaving just the CPU fan connected. If there is some kind of short on the case fans it could be causing safety features to kick in. If that does not work I would try with another PSU, it is also a good idea to take the board out of the case and bench run it. Check for any motherboard standoffs in the wrong places or any other things under the board that could cause a short (loose screws etc).

At this point the more concerning point is that the case fans attached to the board are not spinning up while the CPU fan is. This to me indicates another problem, the RAM could well be incompatible but it should not behave in that way even if the RAM is not supported.

I tried all this before posting the initial query.
1. I made sure both power connectors are properly set 2. Tried without case fans connected 3. Run the test with motherboard outside the case 4. Removed CPU and looked for bend pins 5. Tried with memory in slots 1,2, 3 Every time same behavior. Or LED blinking in blue, quite slowly. PSU is 650W so I guess shouldn't be an issue. I'm unable to find information confirming that my memory is not compatible. Corsair site says that memory is compatible with x99 and x100. Does this mean it is not good for z270? http://www.corsair.com/en-us/vengeance-lpx-16gb-1x16gb-ddr4-dram-2400mhz-c16-memory-kit-black-cmk16gx4m1a2400c16 |

Does this indicate problem with motherboard, case or PSU. Unfortunately I don't have spare units to replace each of them and try.
