Hi all,

I think my Z170M Pro4s is dead and would appreciate your helping determining if that is the case. The motherboard and all components are about 1 year old and worked as expected until today. Last night Windows 10 wanted to reboot overnight to apply an update. Today I got absolutely nothing from trying to boot the machine. No lights, no fan, no noticeable activity. Also, there was neither a burnt plastic smell nor any visible damage or scorch marks.

What I've tried so far:
- Pulled all components
- Reseated all power connectors on the motherboard
- Pulled the motherboard from the case
- Reseated the CPU
- Verified with another PC that power supply works
- Verified that power supply for another PC does not boot the motherboard
- Attempted to reset CMOS via the jumper. No way to tell whether it actually worked though

Any other suggestions?

thanks

snip!

- Verified with another PC that power supply works
- Verified that power supply for another PC does not boot the motherboard

Corsair RM650, one year old.

That's not a good sign.

Check that your cases power switch is good, and working.

Have a shop nearby that can verify for you the board does or doesn't work?

If not, I'd say it's RMA time. Ouch

Dear p23098,

Greetings, this is ASRock TSD.

According to your question, we provide some suggestions to verify:

1. Confirm the ATX 24-pin power cord and 8-pin v-core power cable are connected to M/B properly.

2. Please refer to the user manual(page.18) from the link below to clear CMOS to try(Please shut down the AC power).

3. Please clean the Goldfinger parts of memory and re-connect to the motherboard, make sure it has been installed correctly.

4. Only install the necessary devices (CPU and one stick memory) to check if the system can boot properly.

5. Only install one stick memory module to each DRAM slot by turns to try.

6. If possible, please install another CPU / memory module / PSU to verify.

If the symptom still exists, we would suggest contacting your local dealer or distributor for further physical checking and assistance:

Thanks!

All the best,
ASRock TSD
