I am a first time builder and need some help as to where to check next.

I have a X99 Taichi motherboard, i7 6850K, 2 x 8GB 2800 Memory, Corsair H60 Cooler, EVGA 1080 Graphics, & a Corsair RM750W Power Supply and some other pieces.

I am getting power to the fans, drives, cooler, & graphics, but nothing past that.  No display on Dr. Debug.

Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forums Thumbs Up

A few quick steps:

1. Check that both your 24pin and 8pin power connections are connected to the motherboard correctly and that the 8 pin is the correct one (CPU power not PCIe power).

2. Make sure your PCIe power connections are attached to your graphics card

3. Make sure your memory is in the correct slots, you will find this information in your user manual

4. Clear CMOS using the jumper on the motherboard, again, you will find the info on how to do this in the manual

Let us know if that gets you up and running.

This is a link to the image of the back of my power supply.  The 24 pin ATX is on the bottom right.  The 8 pin is a little confusing because the top right has 3 8 pin connectors and you can see those are labeled for both the PCI-E & 4 + 4 CPU.  I am using the connector on the upper 4 right.

On the ASRock X99 Tachi, I am using the ATX 12V at pin 3, and the ATX Power Connector at pin 8.

""I am using the connector on the upper 4 right." ??

You should have received a 4+4 cable, labeled in the below pic as " 4+4 pin EPS/ATX12V"

If seem to be using the correct cable, which says Type4 on one side and CPU on the other side.

I doubt it. I can't "see' over the 'net Confused

The correct one should be 8 pins on both ends.

You implied above that you're using the 4 at the upper right of your pic. It should be you are using the upper right 8 and ALSO that the other end has 8 that plug into the motherboard.

Note: The cable, single, may have 8 on a one piece connector at one end and two 4 pin connectors at the other, or any possible combo thereof.

Yet the correct cable will have 8 on BOTH ends.

Just dawned on me. NO. The Type4 is a 4 pin at both ends and was/is for older boards like Pentium4, hence the Type4.

New boards req 8 pins and may do just what you are experiencing there with only 4(1/2 of 8) pins providing power.

This Type4 connector has 8 connectors on each end.  It says Type4 on 1 end and CPU on the other.  The 24 pin connector actually says Type4 on side too.

Ya know, you're not being easy here Tongue

Hmmm

i7-6850K is covered by all BIOS revision. Check that one off.

No Dr Debug. This one bothers me. Have you reseated the CPU, looking in the socket for bent pins? Do you have a shop nearby that will test only the CPU?

What 2800Mhz mem Kit is it you're using?

Check and double check the H60 is wired up correctly. Maybe just maybe the board for some reason isn't seeing a cooling system connected and shutting the processor down. That would keep power on other items, but I honestly don't know if that would be a/the reason Dr Debug isn't lighting up.

Something easier than pulling the processor. Pull the system out of the case, rest it on a plain cardboard box(nothing between them yet observe caution of static as it is winter dry air in parts), pull everything off(bare min. to allow booting) but the processor-H60(? Really? H60 on a 7850K?)-memory-GPU and see if it will post.

Too, before even doing that put a lesser GPU than that 1080 and see what comes.

I'm not quite grabbing at straws yet above, but I am running out of ideas. Not out, but coming close.
