AsRock X99 OC Formula

   Hello,
Regarding thunderbolt on AsRock X99 OC Formula, the compatible card is Asus Thunderbolt II EX.  All PCI-e slots on this board are PCI-e GEN 3.

Is it correct of me to assume that the thunderbolt card will automatically use the PCI-e lanes of the CPU due to the fact it is PCI-e GEN 3?

There are many questions to ask which are all to do with the chipset PCI-e lanes and as I'm just beginning to know more about the underlying technology they are important but annoying questions mainly because I'm not sure and it isn't always 100% obvious, at least not yet - thanks
