The only information I found was this new AGESA is a complete rewrite on some BIOS areas, which implies motherboard vendors rewrite a lot of code. It will support the new "Zen+" Raven Ridge processors which will be launched on Feb 2018, and new bugs too surely :-)

My own guess is we will get this AGESA update one or two months before RR launch.

Any ideas as to whether the new agesa will be incorporated into TR or whether they are going to use the AM4 platform as guinea pigs

i would presume

your on a different path officially

un officially i expect both paths to be closely followed with actual lessons learned and code written

or put another way
ryzen 370 agesa version 1007
is probably the same as tr x399 agesa version 1004 underneath ( or whatever version they get to by that time)

I hope that all comes to pass so when I build my new x399 Fatality Pro 1950x with 128gb kit from corsair ill have less headaches next month. BTW since I hear that TR instructions per clock are somewhat less than intels newest processors would TR be at least on par with my 4790k?

i dont know mate

i do know id rather spend the LARGE amount of money for ram on something from gskill rather than corsair though

its not a doubt that samsung based ic chips are by far much better to use than hynix

Ya need to find out if corsair is using samsung b-die, the only reason im favoring corsair is that supposedly the 128gb kit they are selling has been tested for TR https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-CMK128GX4M8Z2933C16-Vengeance-PC4-23400-Threadripper/dp/B074PGSLX6 What I really want is this gskill Flare X https://www.gskill.com/en/press/view/g-skill-announces-new-ddr4-specifications-for-amd-ryzen%E2%84%A2-threadripper%E2%84%A2-processors however I havent seen it go retail yet at amazon or newegg

My guess is the FlareX for TR will be out when the new agesa is out.

I hope we will get a lot less memory training and cold boot issues headaches, and less confusing UEFI settings and bugs.

I don't think my Hynix ram will clock faster tough :-(

Surely as the AGESA and the bios code matures over time the performance and compatibilty will improve
