Motherboard: Z270 Extreme4
Ram: G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) CPU: i-7700 3.6 GHZ no video card or any slots being used. I am not getting any video output. Tried VGA and HDMI Little background, When I first set it up no fans would work so I tried all the basics on resetting the CPU, RAM and the 24 pin and 8 ping power connectors with no luck. After I removed and reinstalled the Cmos battery the CPU fan and case fans now work but still no video. I was going to hook up the chassis speaker to see if there are any beeps but not sure where to connect it. The manual only shows 1 pin for the speaker (huh). My chassis speaker has 2 wires spaced apart that would take up 4 pins wide (Speaker connector has 2 pins that are empty between the red and black wires) Just like pictures is you search for motherboard speaker. Not sure on what to troubleshoot now. Help would be greatly appreciated. Are ASRock Motherboards sealed in any way? Mine was not shrink wrapped or any stickers sealing the box, is this normal for a new Motherboard? Also the anti-static bag did not have a seal or sticker. I'm wondering if this was a return and is defective. Thanks |

First, every ASRock board I have had in retail packaging was shipped in a grey-black foam protective packaging tray, and had a zip tie attaching the board to the tray through one of the mother board mounting screw holes. For example: ![]() If the zip tie was not in place as above, then the board was removed from the shipping tray at some point. Did the board have the protective plastic cover over the CPU socket? Did you look at the pins in the CPU socket for any bent pins? The connector for the POST beep speaker is not part of the System Panel Header where the Power, Reset, HDD and PC case LEDs are connected. The POST beep speaker connection is directly to the left of the System Panel Header, item 15 in the Motherboard Layout section in your board's manual. That header will have two pins spaced correctly for the POST beep speaker. I have no idea what single pin you are referring to in the manual. The two pins for this speaker are labeled Speaker and +5V. Do you have both the 24 pin ATX power cable, and the 4/8 pin CPU power cable connected to the board? Both are required for the CPU and board to operate. It seems you do. Your memory should be in the A2 and B2 slots. It can be difficult to seat the memory in the slots. Look at the memory where it enters the slot, and use the edge of the memory slot as a reference line to insure the memory is fully seated in the DIMM slots. It's strange the fans did not work until after removing the battery. Did you clear the UEFI/CMOS with the jumper on the board? That jumper is on the bottom of the board, on the far left but just to the right of the HD Audio connector. I suggest clearing the UEFI/CMOS with the jumper, and try starting the board again. |

It was tied down So hopefully it is unused, unsure why I needed to clear the CMOS to even get the fans to work at first, but my issue still remains, no video.
I hooked up 2 different speakers and I get nothing, not a single beep. It was a new power supply but I even tried another one with no luck. I am pretty sure the memory is seated in correct. I don't see any contacts when the memory is seated in. They are in slots 2 & 4 closest to the CPU (A2 & B2) I even tried slots 1 and 3 with no luck. I even pulled the memory to see if I would get a beep and nothing. I tried a PCIe video card and that did not work either. My CPU, RAM and the motherboard are all compatible with each other, correct? I am out of ideas what to try next.
