Embarrassed

OK, I still have the same issue, and have brought my server down for maintenance, though I would check back here after emailing ASROCK technical support again.

Pretty disapointed with the complete lack of response (my own aside)
Is there anyone out there that can provide assistance?

OK, so panic not quite over...

Although IPMI seems ok, I am unable to login with default username password combo (admin/admin)

I have downloaded SMC IPMICFG, but although it does communicate with the BMC, whenever a command is sent that will help with my situation, it will error out (generally a cCCH error).

When I attempt to return it to factory default (IPMICGF - fd) It fails with the message "Reset to factory default function does not support IPMI 1.5."

Anyone?

edited for spelling.

Hi all, thanks for your responses, I still don't know what caused the issue, but I managed to get into the system.

I then carried out the following actions;

Disconnected power completely.
Shorted ME recovery pins.
Removed CMOS battery.
Pressed power button, to ensure no residual power.
Un-shorted ME pins.
Replaced CMOS battery.
Powered the server back up.

Upon restoration of power, the server restarted 3 or 4 times before there was any POST display. The server then restarted again and allowed access to BIOS, where the BMC state is now recorded as successful.

Still unable to access IPMI Cry

Hi, I have the above mentioned board. BIOS version appears to be 2.3 (although 2.1 newest on site) BMC version was 07.12. I opened up IPMI and attempted to update the BMC. However upon opening the file to update, the IPMI stated that it was the wrong file (despite being downloaded from the boards official support page).

The issue I now have is that BMC fails to start, I can not log into IPMI (although getting into BIOS is fine - thats where I can see that BMC has failed).

So, how do I re-flash my BMC? - only way I can find mentioned to do it is via IPMI - that I can no longer access.

Cheers

Duggie
