I bought some Gskill RAM:
G.SKILL Flare X Series 64GB (4 x 16GB)DDR4 2933Model F4-2933C16Q-64GFXI was able to set the UEFI to 2933 in the memory speed settings, and this worked for a month. I just got back from a trip out of town and upon turning on the computer, I got the POST fail 3 times and now the memory only shows as 2133. If I try to set it back to 2933, booting up fails and restarts until it defaults to 2133. 1) Could this be due to bad RAM? I tested the sticks for a day when I got them and they showed no errors. 2) What, if anything, should be done for the sticks to show proper speed? I tried a few things in UEFI, to no avail. I'm considering sending these backs while I can RMA. Thanks |

daddyo, make sure you are running the latest BIOS. Please try one stick at a time and see if one is bad. Then try one slot at a time. I am running 3200 MHz FlareX and seem to be fine, but they are single rank. Enjoy, John.

Thanks Mister J,
Sorry for the late reply, my PCwas down while I was returning the RAM chips. Since they were working initially, and were still under warranty, I went for an RMA. The chips I got seem to be working. I am curious, tho, I had to manually set the RAM speed in UEFI to get it to post at that speed. Otherwise, it registers at 2133 Mhz. Was this the case for you? If so, what settings did you modify? Is there a procedure to keeping this stable that I missed? this is a single set of quad channel RAM, as in, 4 chips. Is this what you mean by single rank? And yes. I'm running UEFI 2.0.
