Hi,
I'm wondering if the Z170 Gaming-ITX/ac supports PCI-e bifurcation of x16 lanes into two PCI-e x8 slots.  The Z170 chipset supports this, but I'm curious if the Asrock implementation does.  If so, using something like this should be possible:

Any idea about support for this?  I can't seem to find it in the manual.

Good question. That PCIe device in your picture, is that some type of riser card, or a PCIe x16 lane "splitter" of some sort? A little of both I suspect.

I've never had personal experience with what you are asking. Plus I've never seen a forum post besides yours on this topic, sorry to say.

I don't know if bifurcation requires a UEFI/BIOS option or not, and if it is enabled outside of the chipset, meaning in control of the mother board.

I'll try to find more information on this for you.

I know that the ASRock's X99 ITX board supported bifurcation with a BIOS update so I would guess that there must be some setting in the BIOS that allows for this. I don't know however if it would already be present in the Z170 Gaming-ITX/ac's BIOS.

I think you may have to wait for ASRock_TSD on this one or alternatively you can create a support ticket and ask tech support directly.

Bump!

I asked about this some time ago and ASRock_TSD suggested that some board from the 100 series would have bifurcation support. Is this still true? Or do I have to give up on this?

Another bump!

I don't think the BIOS supports it right now, but Asrock seemed to imply that it might come with a future BIOS update?
