Hy,
I have a problem with my motherboard H97 Pro 4. When i shut down the pc, usb stay active and the light from mouse is active. If i change in bios Play on/off disable, still nothing. If a change Deep sleep in Enable S4 S5, when i shut down first time works fine, my pc shut down completely and the usb port its not active. But then when i try to shut down the computer that remain with light and fans on and the monitor enter in a sleep mode. If a chance winh Deep sleep "Enable S5", pc turn off but with usb ports active. I don't understand why dont shut down when i change enable S4 S5 and play on /off disable. |

Any form of sleep will leave the USB ports powered as that is where the input to power back on will come from, this is normal. When you say "shut down" do you mean power off or sleep? If you mean power off then the fans still spinning and ports still being active should not be happening.

You cannot disable the powered USB ports except by turning off the PSU in the PC.
The constantly powered on USB ports is considered a feature for charging devices like cell phones and iPads when the PC is shutdown. I have seen people in forums asking about this sometimes, but there is no BIOS option or combination of BIOS options that will cause the USB ports to not be powered when the PC is shutdown. One workaround for this is to get a USB hub that has a power switch. The USB hub is connected to the board's USB output and your mouse, keyboard, etc, is then connected to the USB hub. When you shutdown the PC, you can turn of the USB hub and power will not reach the mouse or keyboard. Why are you worried about the light being on in your mouse? The light is an LED that uses very little power, and will last for hundreds of thousands of hours. Even if the USB ports did not have power when the PC is shutdown, the mother board is still partially powered on and using power from the PSU. The board itself is using more power when the PC is shutdown than your mouse is. The only way to have no power being used by a mother board is to turn off the PSU power switch. |
