Just purchased an X370 Taichi with a 2700X CPU to replace my current Intel setup.  I also purchased an AMD A6 9500 APU solely for the purpose of flashing the bios.

Looking at the Taichi CPU Support List, the A6 (Bristol Ridge) CPUs are not listed, and the board does not have any video connectors.

Will this combination work? I have a discrete AMD Radeon 5750 card that should work for video, but it's not clear if the CPU will even work in this board.

im not aware anyone has tried it

the trouble is the bristol rifdge isnt based on the ryzen cores (its adapted to talk to the ryzen am4 socket) so has much less chance without the bios having to be made to use them

hypothetically a solution would be ordering a cheap ryzen direct from amazon and returning it with no questions asked policy

but of course no -one would do this thing

I have not tried a Bristol Ridge CPU in my Taichi, I doubt many people have given the cost of the board. The only reason to do so is now that Ryzen+ has launched, such as your case. There are not even any Athlon CPUs listed so I really don't know.

You can try fire off a support ticket to ASRock from their website, I am sure they will be happy to help.

While you wait, you may get lucky and someone here on the forums may have an answer for you. I would test it myself but I don't have an A-Series AM4 CPU to test with.

Thanks Xaltar and Datonyb.

I have submitted a support ticket and will post the response here. I'm hoping it might work since most of the other Asrock X370 boards support Bristol Ridge, including the X470 Taichi. The only difference appears to be that the X370 does not have any video connectors while the others boards do.

That said, I don't want to take the chance of wasting a bunch of time trying to get this to work since I'm taking apart my only desktop PC to install this setup. If the response from Asrock is negative, I guess I'll have to return these parts to MicroCenter.

You could always just try it outside the case, all you need are the power connections, GPU and RAM. I suspect it may work fine. It may save you some time waiting for an answer.

I received a response from Asrock Tech Support yesterday (I was a little surprised they answered so quickly).

They said that using the A6 with a discrete graphics card should work fine.
