Hello to you all.
I have a strange problem with my brand new pc. Occasionally, it shuts itself off mid-boot. Also, it powers on sometimes when I plug it on AC. I have already changed PSU, memory, SSD and CPU cooler but the problem persists. So, I'm pretty sure that the mobo is the problem. However, as I stated before, the problem occurs a few times only, so I don't know if ASRock will accept an RMA. My PC configuration: Mobo: A88M-ITX/ac v1.01 CPU: AMD A8-7600 CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro H60 RAM: 2x8 (16GB) TeamGroup DDR3 Ram SSD: OCZ Trion100 256GB PSU: Corsair CS650M Case: RAIJINTEK METIS Mini ATX - Green Window |

I didn't clarify that by saying "it powers on sometimes when I plug it on AC", I mean that it powers on automatically without physically pressing the power button. I guess this means that there is a short somewhere...

The first thing I would do is take the board out and run it outside the case to make sure there are no shorts between it and the mounting plate. Your assessment that it sounds like a short is where I would lean too. It may even be a defective power button on your case. Try rule out anything that could be shorting.

Asrock has replaced my mobo. However, the problem continues!
I'm really, really, REALLY frustrated! I've checked event log and read that Shutdown reason is button or lid and other times it is Application API. Well, maybe the case is bad as well... Edited by jbrailas - 31 Dec 2016 at 2:00am |

That sux You mention plugging and unplugging from the wall. Is that how you get up and leave the computer, unplug it? You are aware repeatedly practicing this is very harmful to the components of your system? |

I'm aware but I want desperately to find the cause.
I don't use this computer, not until I fix it, I just run tests on it. I have tried many different things in order to find the problem. The only thing I didn't try yet is to get rid of the case. |

I've already found the problem and forgot to let you know about it.
It was a combination of problems. The mobo was "bad" but I had changed memory modules before its replacement. However, the new modules were faulty! So when I've replaced the mobo, the problem hadn't gone away. I've replaced again the memory modules and everything is working perfectly since then. |
