Thanks for the fast response!

That's more or less the dilemma I was expecting, should I buy a new board, an atx-supply or move to a different system...

Reading that the DC port is the weak spot of that board, buying a new board just for being able to use a universal DC Supply seems to be the least attractive option.

Anyway, thanks again!

Doubt it but I haven't looked online myself since replacing the motherboard. Honestly these motherboards should be given an extended warranty given the clearly defective DC ports. Seems to be a question of when rather than if it will fail.

I had unfortunately built a system for a friend using this motherboard too and while his lasted longer than mine, that motherboard had the same DC power failure and he had to buy a new atx power supply and case to fit it in. That was awhile ago now but still by that time these motherboards were no longer being sold (not like I really would want to buy another defective motherboard anyway).

For me the board/pc doesnt boot up when using the 19V Supply (tested with different, working supplies), but does boot when using an atx power supply. (So far I could only test with a 20 pin, didn't power my sata drive)

I have been using an AM1H-ITX motherboard using its dc input for close to 2 years as a HTPC.  5 days ago it shut off while watching TV on it.  It would no longer power back on although the USB devices (bluetooth, dvd drive) were still getting power.  I tried a standard 750w psu I had lying around and it works fine on that.

I figured the power adapter (90W) was no longer working properly, so being in a hurry picked up a universal laptop power adapter (also 90W) that had great reviews from a local store.  Same result as my current power adapter in that usb devices get power but the system will not turn on.  At most one of the fan twitches for a split second.

I assumed something was wrong with the DC connection on the motherboard and figured my options were to use a different psu or replace the motherboard.  I decided to get a 90W picopsu which was just delivered.  And.... same result with usb getting power but system will not turn on.  The picopsu is 20pin ATX connector while the motherboard has 24pin.  I found lots of people saying that usually is not a problem so gave it a shot.  I am not sure if that is an issue with this mobo.

What it seems like though is the system might all of a sudden be drawing more power than it should be and somehow 90W is no longer enough?  No idea how that would happen but I don't know what else to think.  It is a very basic system with only one ssd.  I have tried with all usb devices unplugged.

Really hope someone has seen something like this before but given the lack of mobos with DC ports I am not sure that will be the case on this forum.  I will contact ASRock support as well right after posting here.

If necessary I will order a new motherboard.  Not a big deal since these boards are fairly cheap.  It is an OEM Windows license so not sure how easy getting the new board activated will be.  It is in a tiny case with no room for a PSU and I don't want to get a bigger case.

update:  Well I never got any replies here or from e-mail ASRock support so just went ahead with ordering a replacement motherboard.  Swapped in the new board and everything is working fine again.  Disappointed ASRock never sent any kind of reply so probably my last ASRock board.
