The Asrock H170M-ITX/DL has a Half-size Mini-PCI Express Slot which can take a mSATA SSD. Which mSATA drives are compatible with this slot? Or can a standard mSATA drive be inserted?

Any mSATA SSD can be used with the half size mini-PCI Express slot. That is what the mSATA interface is.
The specs for this board also state that is the case, in the Slots section: http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H170M-ITXDL/?cat=Specifications |

So how much faster will a mSATA SSD run in this slot compared to standard a 2.5" SATA 3 SSD via a cable?
