I pulled the old mobo from my PC and installed the Z270 Killer SLI/ac with I5-8600k, Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO and G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 8GB 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3600 (PC4 28800).

I'm getting nothing but a slow red flash from under the logo, no fans, no nothing.

The manual is terrible and has no troubleshooting info at all. The website has no troubleshooting info at all, hopefully you guys can help me!

I've disconnected everything except the 2 ATX power connections (removed drives and GPU)with no change. The power supply was working an hour ago so I am pretty sure thats not the issue and I have made sure I didn't put the PCI-E connector in the ATX slot.

Is there any documentation on what the slow red flash is? I am hoping its not just a generic "something is wrong but we can't be more specific"

Got a pic showing the system:

I have the same situation, no fans running and slow red flash.

i replaced my z270 motherboard with no success so I guess its not the mobo. I've replaced the memory with no success, I plugged the old mobo back into the power supply and it worked just fine so I know the ps and the connectors are working. So either I have a bad processor or I am doing something wrong.

There isn't a lot that can go wrong: 2 connectors, no jumpers - I am going to take mine down to a repair guy who might have more ideas.

After taking the whole setup into a licensed repair facility, they were unable to get it working and said it is one of three things:

1) bad motherboard - which would mean that both the original and the replacement were both bad in the same way, possible but unlikely and would imply some very poor quality control.

2) bad processor - possible but unlikely, how often does a DOA processor ship?

3) motherboard incompatible with processor - I purchased the i5-7500k which it specifically says it supports so that seems unlikely as well.

arrgghh!

My current plan is to send the replacement mobo back (if I can) for a refund and try a different one. If that doesn't work it has to be the processor.

Not sure how I missed this thread but:

For everyone reporting issues with a Z270 motherboard and an i5/i7 8X00 CPU, you need a 300 series board, while the socket is the same, 8th gen CPUs are not supported on 200 series boards.

As for the i5 7500, that should work out of the box with all BIOS versions so the issue is either with the CPU or another common component (PSU possibly?). We need more info to narrow it down.

thanks for the post Xaltar - my mistake. My processor is a i5-8600k so it looks like it falls into the same issue.
