Has anyone else experienced this? I get at most half the speed I'm paying for on WiFi. Phones and multiple laptops get the expected speed but not my desktop. I pay for 100 down 10 up and I'm getting 30 - 50 down and 9 up.

A USB with Linux Mint gets the expected speed I pay for so I've narrowed it down to the OS but I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling drivers, messed around with the properties in device manager, and even swapping antetna but I'm still stuck with half on both the 2.4 and 5 Ghz signal.

I'm flustered and out of ideas so I've turned to the Asrock forums for a solution. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

All the drivers and Windows are up to date.

i could try it when i get back home tonight i cant remember the exact speed

im leaning towards not clear path or whatever thing that would weaken the wifi signal causing the speed drop

isn't wired not a option?

Wired infortunatly is not an option, that's why I got a motherboard with WiFi.

It's right across the hall maybe 20 ft away and it works fine on Linux Mint so I don't think it's a interference issue.

I didn't notice this issue when I built the PC but I'm not sure when it started. I'm going to reset the PC tonight and see what happens, I'll let you guys know if anything changes.

It's the closest device to my router and it's getting the slowest speed by at least half.

But judging by your speeds I guess it's normal. This is the first board I've purchased with WiFi built in. I normally have a separate card which gives 90% of the speed.

Why do you think it works on Linux and not Windows though?

Thanks for the quick responses!

**Issue Solved**

I got home today and went to reset the PC and it failed to reset. I removed the Intel PROSet app provided by Asrock, the Intel driver, Windows driver individually then restarted.

I loaded the newest Intel driver without installing PROSet and it works perfect now. Now I'm getting 103 down 13 up.

Removing the PROSET from Apps & Features Solved the issue. Thanks for all the input!

You're never going to get the full speed you're paying for using wi-fi. You'll be lucky to get half the speed you're paying for using wi-fi.
Those advertised speeds are for ethernet speeds, not wi-fi speeds.
Even using ethernet you won't get those speeds the majority of the time. Those ethernet speeds will always put wi-fi speeds tp shame.

I'm getting more speed than I'm paying for on WiFi. I pay for 100 down and 10 up and I'm exceeding that by about 10%.

And "Shame" is a strong word to use when it's less than a 5% difference down & up. It does put the ping to shame but if you have the AP configured correctly with little interference than you can easily achieve 90+ percent of your advertised speed.

i believe the advertised speed was over 400Mbps dunno why you think its 90 then roughly half of that is the actual obtainable speed

but anything on wifi over 50Mb is already fantastic i havent upgrade to ac or ax speeds

btw i roughly get 960Mbps on ethernet

Now your just bragging! =p

I pay for 100 up and 10 down and on WiFi I'm getting roughly 110 down and 112 up. The greater than 90% of the speed. I get 115 down and 13 up on ethernet.
