Win 7 home premium We cloned the boot drive onto a new SSD with Macrium Reflect. We made the new SSD the number 1 boot drive in UEFI. We reboot - but windows boots from the old drive. We then disable the old drive, but windows still boots from the old drive. We are snookered. Any ideas are welcome. |

Maybe it's related to a disk signature collision.

Think of it as an unique identificator value for each harddrive, to help Windows differentiate between them. Now if you do a perfect clone of a drive then connect both drives, Windows will read the exact same disk signature value from both and be confused and disable at least one of them.
I'm not sure why the BIOS would boot from the wrong drive, though. Perhaps that's also related to the signature as the boot loader attempts to load the correct windows partition. |

Like this video shows
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZqkYnmDnas (and other videos and other sites) there should be no problem with cloning. Oh well. Thanks |

If the cloned hard drive does not boot later, you can try the following ways:
1. Check the startup settings. > Press a specific key, usually Del for desktop and F2 for laptop, to enter BIOS settings. > Under Boot tab, make sure the cloned drive is first boot order. * If your cloned drive is a GPT disk, make sure the UEFI boot mode is enabled, and if it is an MBR disk, then set it to Legacy boot mode. If your computer does not support UEFI boot mode, you need to do a GPT to MBR conversion before you can boot from the cloned drive. As you may know, some software allows you to clone MBR to GPT disk or back without disk conversion. The computer is not using the correct boot mode is one of the reasons why cloned SSD not booting. 2. Use repair option via a Windows System Repair Disc . > Boot from the repair disc, and try the first option, Startup Repair. > If it does not work, you can try Bootrec.exe, which can is available in Command Prompt to fix cloned HDD not boot. Open the last system recovery option, Command Prompt, and enter the following command in order to fix BCD and repair MBR: bootrec.exe bootrec.exe /fixmbr bootrec.exe /fixboot bootrec.exe /scanos bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd If you are not familiar with such commands, you can use AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard to repair MBR via simple steps. |
