Hi guys. I've bought the X570 Extreme4 model because of DTS Connect. My home theater only has optical S/PDIF input and it's the only way to has 5.1 channels. Well, I've been using a Z97 Extreme4 board that also has the resource and always worked like a charm in videos and games.
I was expecting that it would be the same thing with the new motherboard but I only could get 5.1 channels with a movie using Windows default player. With games and videos through Media Player Classic I only have 2 channels (left and right speakers) working. I also noticed that my Z97 shows DTS Interactive 5.1 option to select but the X570 not. I used the Realtek audio driver from ASRock site and tested others versions and modified versions too. With modified versions I can get DTS Interactive 5.1 option to be showed but in games I only can get the 2 channels. Does anyone also uses S/PDIF and has the same problem or found a solution? |

I got the exact same issue :( but with my asrock z390. Only can play it in media player. Before I got also the asrock z97 extreme 4. And it worked everywhere games etc. I chosen this board the taichi z390 for the dtsm but if the problem doesn't get fixed Im gonna get a gigabyte board because Realtek modded drivers allows dts etc on every board. Or I install a sound card on the gigabyte one, in this one I can't because my graphics card is laying over the pci 1 ports

I was in the exact same boat.
Make sure you have the latest Realtek driver from ASRock. This one is for the Extreme4 (which I am using too): https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/X570%20Extreme4/index.asp#Download Now get into your Realtek Digital Output Properties window. Easiest way: Right-click the Speaker icon in your system tray and click "Open Sound settings". Make sure "Realtek Digital Output (Realtek(R) Audio) is selected as your Output device, then click "Device properties". Under "Related Settings", click "Additional device properties". Now, here you have to do three things: Under the Supported Formats tab, make sure DTS Audio is checked. Test it. Under the Advanced tab, make sure the "Default Format" (shared mode) is set to "DTS Interactive (5.1 Surround)". Ignore the test button, here. It only tests Stereo (in Exclusive mode). NOW, below you'll see "Signal Enhancements", uncheck "Enable audio enhancements". That should be it! You can conveniently test your newly working surround sound at this site: https://www2.iis.fraunhofer.de/AAC/multichannel.html I also tested Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (sounds amazing) and several media players. Everything is working! Note: This method completely bypasses the Realtek Audio Console Windows 10 App. I believe this app is the source of our problems and am currently talking to ASRock support about the issue. If you want to open a ticket with them and link this thread, it might help. Hope this works for you guys too! P.S. In some old games, you may need to patch xaudio to get surround sound. I used the information on this site to get it working. I had to patch all 8 xaudio2_X files in Windows\System32 AND all 8 in Windows\SYSWOW64. |
