Hi everyone!
I have a Z370 Extreme4 mainboard with an Intel 8700K. Yesterday I updated the UEFI to the latest Version (4.20) and since then my setup doesn't work anymore. I use the iGPU as well as an RX580. The iGPU powers my host system (Ubuntu18.04) and the GPU is set up to be passed through to a Virtual Machine for gaming. That has worked flawlessly until the UEFI-Update. Whats happening right now: I have both GPUs connected to my monitor. In the UEFI I set the internal GPU to be the primary GPU and also to use the "IGPU Multi-Monitor"-Option. However when I boot the computer the picture is output through the PCIe-GPU. But I need the iGPU to be used for my case to work. If I remove the monitor cable from the PCIe-GPU before boot and then switch the system on, it outputs through the iGPU. After boot I can attach the cable again use my VM for gaming. Obviously this is not very convenient. Considering I have set all the settings to make this work this, seems like a bug to me. Are there any more troubleshooting steps I can take or any setting i'm missing? Thanks already Fabian Edited by ASRock_TSD - 29 Jun 2020 at 10:47am |

Dear Eldiabolo18,
Thank you for posting! Regarding your question, since both "IGPU Multi-Monitor" and "Primary graphics adapter are both enabled, the graphics output should only come from onboard ports. Only when graphics drivers are installed to the OS, will the monitors connected to PCIe-GPU and iGPU light up. We have checked the system with the following configuration and the system will always output from the onboard port first. Once the system goes into OS, both monitors will get signals. Win 10 BIOS:4.20 CPU:8700K GPU:RX580 Two monitors -Connected to the onboard port. -Connected to the graphics card. Let us know the details/how we can help. With thanks, ASRock TSD Edited by ASRock_TSD - 10 Mar 2020 at 10:10am |

Hey, i never realized that someone answered, thank you very much for you that! Unfortuantely the problem still persists.
As you said, it shouldnt have anyhting to do with the OS as already the POST and BIOS menu ist not displayed, long before any OS is loaded. What you tried to reproduce is pretty much my setup, so it should be accurate. Is there any other way we can debug this? I assume you did this in UEFI-Mode/ with CSM off? Really appreciate the help! |

Update:
I actually made it work in the end if someone else comes across this: I reset the BIOS to defaults, just enabled "IGPU Multi-Monitor" and "Primary graphics adapter" (also wakeonlan) and all in a sudden it works as expected and as you probably tried out. So somewhere in the BIOS is a setting that overrrides/ disables the settting to output on the iGPU. Maybe a Bug maybe a setting that is incompatible with it. Either way, works for me rn. cheers! |
