I pay for gigabit connection, when i first got this computer 2 months ago i got almost my full speeds, and then a month ago they dropped off one day, wired AND wirelessly.
I tried a speed test with my other computer (hp omen 17) and i get very close to full speeds wirelessly from the same spot as my desktop WIRED, but my desktop speeds Wired peak at 200 download and upload. i get almost a whole 850 download with my laptop wirelessly. i went to the asrock download page for my board, tried the lan driver there. no difference. went into my router settings, the 2.4 bandwidth is set to up to 600 mbps, my 5.0 bandwith is set for 800+,my router is a netgear nighthawk ac1900 r6700 i tried different ether net cable (both cables rated cat5 e) i called my ISP and the bandwith allocation is correct, and i can demonstrate this with my laptop, so my internet is RIPPING for sure, no problem. Lastly, i had my buddy send me his archer t4 wireless card (rated for very fast speeds), and sadly, even with this wireless card my speeds peaked at 150 up and down. (que the guys telling me to use the search bar) i searched for almost 40 minutes in the search bar. please dont be annoying. i now understand why 3 out of 3 guys in my group bought and hated an asrock motheboard. im ready to spend 200 extra bucks to prove my suspicions. i have NEVER had this problem and i been tinkering inside computers since 2008, and i am the go to guru for MY buddies. |

ultimately after a month or two of dicking with it i stumbled on what looks like a solution.
after EVERYTHING i mentioned already i downloaded TCP optimizer, and first tried a "quick click" fix and selected the default windows settings, rebooted, and got DOUBLE the speeds, wired, just from doing that. i specifically loaded the driver from february 2020 and have almost a whole 600 download, "wired" now and 500 upload. with the wireless card i can get a clean 500/400 on 5ghz bandwith. |

Realtek isn't the best LAN solution out there .. but still ..
anyways .. I'm not sure how much of a difference it make with RealTek's stuff, but with Intel, I was getting BSOD's with ASRocks dated nic drivers and went to the source for and updated driver from Intel and all is good now. I'd also make sure your AM4 Chipset drivers are up to date .. they may or may not help in keeping all your motherboard components talking together properly. If you have a long stretch to your router, then look at CAt6 or better cabling to your router. Sounds like it's already working better for you now though |
