Having an issue after a power outage here where the computer gets stuck on the Asus logo screen, the first two leds on the motherboard are lit and stay lit indefinitely when it makes it to the logo indicating failure to boot and vga failure. My question is what should I do? I've tried resetting the cmos with a knife from our kitchen since I can't find the microscopic jumper that probably came with the board somewhere. I did take out the gpu and try reseating it back into the motherboard but got the same result. Not sure what to do here. The psu also seems fine as it's still showing a green led on the back of it. So yeah any help would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like a component got damaged .. hard to say what exactly without swapping out parts. Brown outs can be just as damaging as power surges.
Unplug everything from motherboard that is non-essential for booting into BIOS for starters, ie .. usb/sound headers, hard drives etc.. run one stick of RAM and if no go .. try your other stick(s). If you have another PSU, I'd try that as well .. if you have another video card, try that .. I've had bad PSU's that still lit up like they were working .. for what it's worth. |
