I've just built a new system based on the ASR B450 and received a CD with many utilities including, I believe, a copy of Win10.

As I don't have a CD on the new machine, I need to create a USB boot disc on another machine. Which files need copying from the CD to the USB to install Win10 and where can I find the product licence key?

On OEM systems I understand the key is embedded in the MB but I don't think this is the same for retail MBs?

Motherboards don't generally ship with Windows 10 keys unless you bought this used and Windows 10 is tied to the hardware..

Just use Microsoft's Media Creation Tool to make a bootable USB drive with latest version of Windows 10 x64. Legit Keys can be had for $15 if you need one or if you have an old Win 7 key laying around .. those still work for fresh installs.

Thanks - but the cost of Win10 Home in the UK is £120.00 at present (£69.99 discount price for Christmas!)

The ASRock manual (B450M) states that the MB comes with Win10 (presumably on the CD ROM?) so I'd rather not shell out another £120 sovs if there is already an included version lurking on the CD?

Hardforums.com is a PC enthusiast site that I have been a member of since 2001 and have close to 500 transactions in their buy/sell section. I have purchased many keys from an individual there for Windows 10 .. all for $15 or less. They have all worked without issue in the many PC's that I have built over the years for myself, family and others. There are other sources out there that sell cheap Windows and Office keys for dirt cheap.

You can choose to take advantage of cheaper prices or pay full retail .. in the end you get the same product(s) unlocked and usable.

I don't thing you are going to have an "included" version on anything that came with your motherboard ..

Use Microsoft's Media creation tool and install Windows 10 without a key .. get into windows after installation and see if it automagically activates .. if not, then you'll have to purchase a key from somewhere to activate

Actually, windows 10 works just fine without activating at all, you just get a
vaguely annoying watermark at the lower right corner of your UI and some unimportant
features are disabled like the ability to set themes etc.

I have been using unactivated windows on review systems for years now, why spend
money on licenses for machines I will be pulling apart again in a week or so.

There are a LOT of sources for cheap windows 10 keys these days, most between
$10 and $20 depending on the site. Check out Tech YES City on youtube, he usually
leaves a link to a reputable key selling site in the info of his videos.

As for bundled windows 10, I don't think ASRock has ever done that. If it is a
bundle then the store you purchased it from is likely the one offering a bundle.
I suspect however that you misinterpreted the badging on the box where it has a
small Windows 10 logo and the text "Supports Windows 10".

again i have to add
you dont get a copy of windows with a motherboard (brand new )
and as a uk based guy also i must add
to pay 120 quid for windows is technically unknown/foolish

yestechcity as quoted links you to where to buy win10pro for around 13 quid with discount code
as will paulshardware etc etc most youtube channels do

one other option for you
look around the house /shed/loft can you find a old pc or laptop with a win7/8 key ?
that will work and activate for win10 just fine

LET ME EXPLAIN A FACT

microsoft have moved there business plan away from that initial upfront purchase cost of software
they have now adopted the google approach for revenue
e.g. they make more money from you using windows 10 then from selling you the program
they really dont care where and how you get a key , just use windows so they can get revenue for targeted adverts ,is all they care about
grab a usb stick 4gb+ win home/ 8gb win pro download the media creation tool direct from microsoft and install it with either a win7/8 key or shell out 13 quid
i do suggest if buying a key go for win10 pro its basically same price for the key
if using an old laptop win7/8 key i will usually be a home key so install win10 home from media stick

From experience, you can buy sealed OEM packs on ebay for less than $30. Especially, the Pro 64-bit. The key is in a second hard sleeve in side the envelope. The envelope has an obvious anti-tamper seal holding it closed.
Also, most of the actual key is hidden under scratch-off gray crap, like a lottery ticket, or gift card. If that has been altered, or removed, toss it. The key has probably already been used. I've gotten three properly-sealed copies of Pro 64-bit: 2 for new install on custom-builds and one to use to upgrade a laptop I have from Home 64-bit to Pro 64-bit. That's actually cheaper than getting a classic type upgrade, which is at least $100US.
