Fixed it, using a VGA dummy plug, like described here, with 75Ohm resistors:
https://www.geeks3d.com/20091230/vga-hack-how-to-make-a-vga-dummy-plug/ Now it boots without those annoying beeps. I used many kind of systems over the past 30 years, this the first one needing such a patch for headless successfull POST... |

Checking further, I noticed it beeps 5 time if no VGA monitor is plugged in. Now I beleive it is a feature.
But that box shall be headless (a server). And I see no BIOS option to change this behaviour. Any hints would be welcome. |

Hello,
I've just intalled that new board, and I'm getting 5 beeps at boot stage. Which shall mean CPU error? In another post here, I've read it may be related to missing VGA card. But display hardware is embedded on that mobo (can access BIOS settings, and my OS boots). No error is shown at the display, it beeps, then boots. The BIOS seems to be the latest one. I tried to boot without the RAM, then I get RAM beeps... The RAM is Crucial CT51264BF160BJ 4Go DDR3 1600 MHz CL11, I assume it is DDR3L, must be supported. It only beeps at boot, then boots Linux and runs stable without any issue. Shall i ask my reseller for mobo replacement? Or did I miss some options? Best regards |
