Xaltar, thanks for the reply. I'm probably overthinking this. Thanks for the confirmation of disabling XMP.

Disable XMP or reset to defaults in your UEFI to prevent issues with your first
POST after installing the new kit. Either should work fine. Enjoy the upgrade

Guys,
I've been running a B550 Phantom Gaming 4 board and Ryzen 5 3600 since late Winter 2021. System has performed flawlessly. Current memory set up is a Crucial Ballistix DDR4-3200 16GB kit (2x8GB) in slots A2 and B2. I set up XMP profile to run at 3200, and system has been totally stable. I decided to up the memory with an additional 16GB kit (same as above), but then read of memory slow downs when you populate all four memory slots. So, I picked up a GSkill Ripjaws V DDR4-3200 32GB kit (2x16GB). I'm not worried about getting rid of the two Crucial kits, as I'll post them for a good price on Craigslist. My main question is this - prior to swapping out the Crucial sticks for the GSkill sticks, should I disable the XMP profile? Any other suggestions I should follow? TIA, Jeff |
