Hello,

Having audio port issues with my B650pg lightning motherboard.

I have recently changes pc cases, using the same exact components. But after rebuilding it, audio is no longer detected from the blue (line-in) port.

Before changing cases i had plugged in my Ifi Air CAN DAC to the blue port which transmitted audio to it and then to my headphones. But for some reason after just rebuilding the case (not changing any bios settings or components or anything) suddenly the blue port detects my DAC as recording device instead of audio.

I have tried reinstalling realtek audio drivers (from the main site, motherboard site, different versions), nothing changed.
I have updates my BIOS. Enabled the audio option in BIOS. Tried disabling front panel and everything.

Nothing lets me change the blue (line-in) option from recording device to audio device.

Has anyone had similar issues?

So audio out from the line in port is what you are after? I am afraid the only
way I know to do that outside of using Realtek's control panel (and even that only
with certain older versions) is to set the speaker output to quadrophonic or 5.1
and that isn't what you are after.

If your front panel audio is connected then you could use the front panel headphone
jack for your DAC then through your headphones. Unfortunately that board doesn't
have a rear line out so it requires reassigning jacks, usually done through
the control panel of the audio codec provider (realtek in this case).

You can try download the Realtek audio drivers and physically install them (setup.exe)
from within the driver's extracted folder rather than pointing windows to the
driver directly. Then open the realtek control panel and see if it gives you
options to change the jack assignments. It must have been set up this way before
if you were using the blue jack.

Sadly i don't have the option to use the front, since cable are too short.

I remember being able to use both the blue and green for sound output without configuring anything before.

Using Realtek connection pop up, which lets you choose either headphones/microphone, is not working for the motherboard inputs. I can choose the options only on the front input.

Yeah, it sounds like the "autosense" got messed up. Maybe try connecting the speakers
to the blue jack and your DAC to the green one, see if it senses the speakers are
not a microphone or input device.

You may have to do some version jumping to find the driver/control panel that
will do what you need. This has been a real pain for a long time. I had similar
issues with an ITX recording rig I built a few years back. In the end I think
I tried 12 different driver and control panel versions before finally giving
up and installing a dedicated sound card in the PCIe x1 slot. Ironically, the stupid
auto sense started working after I had forked out for a pro audio card....

It's possible a windows update broke things, sometimes they find security threats
in drivers and update them.

You could try a fresh OS install but that can be a real PITA. Maybe on a spare
drive? Sadly I don't know a sure fire way to fix it, it usually takes a lot of
messing around trying different things.

You can alternatively look at an extender cable for your front panel jacks:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Phobya-Audio-extension-cable-femaile/dp/B074JJ2SFR

They should be fairly easy to track down regardless of where you live, even AliExpress
should have options available. A more permanent solution to the issue that isn't
expensive (like a new sound card).

After trying out the different connections - everything inserted in the blue port is read as a recording. The green is completely off - nothing works (speakers, headphones, literally any 3.5mm jack). Mic one works perfectly.

My DAC is a simple Ify air CAN - ir connects to the pc with a 3.5mm connection.

If i use a dongle from 3.5mm to USB C, works fine - sound goes through, but isn't detected anywhere on the Realtek audio center and pops up as LINE

Odd..

When you click on the speaker icon on the taskbar, is your "Speakers (Realtek
High Definition Audio)" selected?

You can also try disabling and enabling Jack Detection. It may give you more
options disabled, I can't test on any of my systems sadly.

When the audio is plugged in the case it says "Speaker (Realtek(R) Audio).
When its connected through the dongle is says "Line (Realtek USB2.0 Audio).

I have currently installed the audio drivers from my motherboard page on the official site. Tried a few different audio drivers in the last few days. One of them installed as regular High definition Audio with the old HDA manager but had the same issues.

Googling the issue you find tons of posts all over the place about this issue, all
of them go on a wild ride of troubleshooting and driver installation/uninstallation.
Make sure you uninstall the Realtek software as well as the drivers. You will want
to uninstall anything realtek from "Add or remove programs".

When you reinstall drivers you can tell the system to let you choose and select
the generic "HD Audio" driver by microsoft and see if that allows you to do what
you need.

Be ready to chase your tail a bit, this issue is a known pain.

Thanks for the help.

I'll be on my way to the install/uninstall hell.
