Hey all,

I assembled a new PC with a B450M Pro4 mobo & Ryzen 3400G CPU recently, but haven't been able to install an operating system. When I power it on, the fans spin, and a screen with the ASRock logo and a list of F keys to press for different options appears. From here, I'm able to access the BIOS-- all that I've changed in here was the RAM speed (to increase it to 3000) and the boot order (to put USB first).

I've tried several times to boot from a USB (using two different sticks: one with a Windows 10 image that I've never otherwise used, and one with a Linux Mint 19.2 image that I had successfully used to install Mint on a laptop), but when I try this, it only displays a black screen after briefly showing the ASRock logo screen. When I tried to run the driver CD included with the motherboard (turned the system on and selected the optical drive in the boot menu), it gave a black screen asking me to put installation media in the selected drive and press any key. Reinserting the disk did nothing; I had to restart.

I've updated the BIOS to v3.50 using a USB stick, and I ran memtest86 (on like a 6th different USB stick) and found no errors.

Any ideas on what could be causing this? I've posted around Reddit a couple times and was advised to check here.

Where do you have the boot USB drive connected? Are there other USB peripherals connected nearby? I have had a mouse and a USB drive connected to adjacent ports on the front of a case and both items didn't work. Once I moved the mouse to a port on the back of the case (that is, directly on the motherboard), both devices worked.
