The BIOS will not detect the hard drive if the hard drive's data cable is damaged or not properly connected. If the Serial ATA or SATA drivers are not installed correctly, the hard drive is not enabled in the BIOS, the hard drive keeps spinning, or the hard drive is damaged, failed or dead, the BIOS may not recognize your hard drive either. But I better advise you not to look for ways to solve the problem independently but go to quickly and inexpensively in a service center. This is very important because there is a chance to be left without the information you need or making your computer even worse.

Just purchased Powerspec with ASRock A320M mobo. Having this same issue and the above suggestions do not help. My SSD was in another PC previously. Would this have any affect on new PC not recognizing it? Trying to add without wiping drive.

Dear Rubi,

Greetings, this is ASRock TSD.

According to your question, we have some tips for you to check the HDD detection.

1. Please enter BIOS setup and press [F9] to load BIOS default settings.

2. Under BIOS setup > Advanced tab > Storage devices, please check if the HDD is detected.

3. In BIOS > Boot tab, please check if the HDD is recognized under Boot Option.

4. Power on the system and press [F11] to enter Boot Menu to check if the HDD is recognized.

5. Unplug the AC power and install the HDD to other SATA ports to verify; be sure to connect a SATA power to your HDD.

Thanks!

All the best,
ASRock TSD
