X99 WS - ECC Max Memory support

The only 32GB memory listed that I can see is the Crucial 2133 CT32G4RFD4213.36FA1.

The memory support list is clear IMO about the 32GB memory modules. For Quad channel operation the list shows "4pcs", or 4 pieces total for the 32GB DIMMs.

If the memory could be used with four OR eight pieces, then a 'v' is shown in the Quad Channel column.

Since we only see 4pcs in the Quad Channel column for the Crucial 2133 32GB DIMMs, that is the limit for that memory type.

What is it that makes you think it is unclear about the number of 32GB DIMMs that can be used?

Regarding the other Samsung memory, your question to ASRock support has likely been delayed due to the New Years holiday that is celebrated for several days in Chinese culture countries.

I am still curious about this subject.

But we know from our experiences that if a BIOS accepts and is compatible with a specific memory, one, two, four, eight, or even sixteen should run w/o issue.

I see no reason slot wise restricting the number of compatible sticks. What? Is ASRock there stating that although the board has eight slots, please only use four?

Yea. I hear ya. I myself might maybe balk at doing so myself. Yet what you state BIOS wise, ie limitation, makes no sense. Why limit a known server CPU by intentionally hampering any capability related to memory. That, as I say, would mean that ASRock went out of their way to do so.

Tell ya what. It's too late here in the US, ASRock TS is closed, but tomorrow I will call them and inquire. Again, I don't for one second believe them to havve done such a thing.

I will inquire as to the specific memory on the QVL and if it is indeed a four stick limit and or a 128 or 256 limit of this specific memory listed on the QVL.


Is there anything you'd like me to ask of them in the way of specifics?
