BEGIN RANT
First off let me apologize if I sound crabby, but i've been fighting with this mobo for 4 days. I have built several machines in the past and this is by far the worst experience i ever had. So I am a bit frazzled right now.
END RANT

Note: i use cd and dvd interchangeably

I bought a J4105M a while back and there is all kinds of problems with it.

First off it is impossible to boot properly from a cd or usb. Put a disk in and sometimes it will try to boot and sometimes it goes directly to the bios. It is impossible to set the boot order since often the options are not there. There is absolutely nothing in the manual to give any clue as to how to make this work. The option to set dvd does not appear if there is no disk in the drive. It only sometimes appears. When it does boot, it hangs. sometimes i can boot to ubuntu from a usb and I can see and edit the hd from there so I suspect the hd is working. I have never been able to boot from a usb regardless if I set it up for MBR & BIOS or MBR & EUFI or GPT & EUFI. I used windows 7 pro sp1 64, windows 7 pro 64, windows 7 starter, Windows 7 home 64 and windows 7 pro 86. I can boot the usb as BIOS on one machine and MBR on my laptop. But nothing works on this mobo.

In the manual it mentions a USB configuration but it appears this option has been removed.

The hd may have been in a system with BIOS so that could be the issue. this mobo may only support UEFI. but that doesn't explain why it wont boot from a usb. when i try it says "An error occurred when trying to read configuration data." This usb works perfect on other machines.

I bought another asrock mobo that i was impressed with which is why I purchased this one. But i bought it last year and finally got around to installing it this year so I can't return it.

I am trying one last ditch effort before i rip it out and buy another mobo from any manufacturer except asrock. Right now they are 1 for 2, terrible odds. Opps, sorry im still ranting. 4 days of inconsistent behavior, unintuitive operation, bad documentation and unresponsive technical support has negatively affected me. Their support does not answer the phone nor respond to messages sent via the site.

If anyone knows how to consistently boot from a device please let me know.
If anyone has any idea how to make this work then please tell me.
If this mobo is useless and will not work then please tell me. I would much prefer smashing it into little pieces then constantly trying to get something to work that never will.

This motherboard is Intel, so I believe you will get more help from Intel Motherboard subforum.
