    Posted: 18 Nov 2017 at 6:25am
Well i'm here looking for some help.

Not sure if the issue is my cpu, ram, or motherboard at this point.
I have an x370 Taichi board with ryzen 7 1700x and gskill flare x 3200mhz 2x8gb kit. F4-3200C14D-16GFX which is a supported memory module kit. I've got the system up and running with modules in a2 and b2 per book for dual channel setup. Problem is 1. It won't post at specified speeds. 2. With both modules in bios 3.20 shows 16gb in single channel, but os shows 16gb avail and only 8 usable. If I run 1 stick I can enable xmp and it boots at the advertised speed for both sticks. As soon as both sticks go in it can only boot at 2400mhz single channel and windows can't utilize it all.  So at this point any guesses i'm leaning towards bad board. If I run 1 stick I can boot into windows and work and do everything I normally would without issues. I thought it was bad ram at first so I rma'd it for a new set, but still have the same problem. Since processor is running fine with one stick I can only imagine its the board at this point. Help?

strange that both sets of channels would be defective

try cleaning ram sticks contacts with a pencil eraser and blow out the ram slots, preferably with can of compressed air and push them sticks down firm man

Well......... I tore everything down, pins are straight and free of thermal paste. I cleaned the water cooler pump contact and the cpu. After setting the cpu in the socket and pins lined up I lightly pressed down when moving the lever. Reapplied Artic Silver 5 and the pump. Went ahead and put the second module in and it booted dual channel and xmp profile was able to load at 3200mhz. What in the hell.

I just built this rig so i'm gonna run it at stock speeds. Asrock x370 Taichi mobo, ryzen 7 1700x, 16gb of gskill flare x 3200mz, gigabyte radeon vega 56, with a wd black 512 m2 nvme drive. I will probably getting into overclocking once I see how the system performs.
