Hey all,

Just bought a brand new Z170 Pro4S and had no problems out of the box with boot, however upon loading into windows, my mouse and keyboard wouldn't work (Only in windows. They work fine in UEFI). I assumed quickly that this was due to not having the motherboard drivers installed yet, which puts a thorn in my side as I dont currently have access to an optical drive.

Did some digging, found the Easy Driver Install feature in the UEFI and ran it, however it always freezes during the LanDriver.zip download, and the power needs to be cycled in order to regain control of the system. Ive tried going to the website and downloading the appropriate drivers onto a flashdrive, and then attempting to boot off said flashdrive, but still no luck. The system ignores the flashdrive boot and heads to windows (Even when the USB is the only boot option in UEFI).

I have also tried copying all the contents from the Support CD to a blank flashdrive, and then booting off the flash drive, yet still no luck. Same problem is encountered as before.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

assuming you want to install Windwos 7...
for boards with Z170/H170/B150 you need to update the Windows installation disc with USB drivers for the chipsert, since xHCI was not developed, when Windows 7 was released and updated.
=> Windows 7 USB Patcher ver:2.0.16 or Windows 7 * USB 3.0-Creator-Utility
this problem is reported really often...

or you install with PS/2 keyboard and mouse.
