The manual says "*If M.2 PCI Express module is installed, PCIE5 slot will be disabled."
In addition the manuals says: If the eSATA port on the rear I/O has been connected, the internal S_SATA3_3 will not function. If the Ultra M.2 Socket has been occupied, the internal S_SATA3_2 will not function. I will check the sata ports and if they are populated I will try to use diferent ones If that is the cause the maual is not very clear in that point Cunhell |

(S_SATA3_3 connector is shared with the eSATA port)
(S_SATA3_2 connector is shared with Ultra M.2 Socket) When the 970 is used the SATA3-2 must not be used. The 970 must use the GPT system not MBR |

Additional info. I forgot to mention, that I had one system crash which leads to pci problems.

Hello, I hope this is the right sub forum for my problem. I have the X99 Extreme4 with a Xeon E5-2697v3 and 64GB ECC ram. Since I have my normal sata ssd with a samsung nvme970evo I do have some issues. First one is, that the Samsung NVMe Controller is shown at "safe remove" in the windows 10 tray which doen't make sense at all. Second one is, that the "power safe" status does not work properly. Instead of coming online again the system does a powercycle and the event log shows a message that the system has gone down unexpectably. Third one is, that the event log shows attempts to safe remove the device which does not succeed. System was set up from scratch after installing the nvme ssd. Bios, firmware, drivers and the os is on the latest version If the system is running everything seems to be fine so does the system boot. Has onyone running this combination of x99 extreme 4 and the samsung nvme ssd 970evo? I know someone with the ITX-Version of this board and he does neither have the safe remove option for the nvme ssd nor the "going down unexpectably messages" in the event log I don't have a clue what's wrong. There are some postings in different forums but they all got no answers. I only found one issue similar to mine which got fixed by a new bios version but mine is up to date. I would appreciate any hint to solve this problem. Cunhell
