I just installed some new ram to upgrade my system. It did not match my older ram that was installed, but from what I had read elsewhere, it shouldn't be a problem.

I'm using an asrock x99 extreme4.

The ram I originally had was this: https://www.amazon.com/G-Skill-Channel-3200MHz-Trident-F4-3200C16D-16GTZB/dp/B015FY3BJ2

And I just added this: https://www.amazon.com/Ballistix-PC4-24000-288-Pin-Gaming-Memory/dp/B07F6JPLJ2

I had the g-skill ram originally in the 1st and 2nd black slots (A1 and B1). I then added the new memory to the 2 other black slots on the other side (C1 and D1). When I restarted and checked the bios, I didn't see the new ram at all. It was still telling me I had 2 channels installed. I tried reseating the ram to no avail.

I then switched out the pairs and put the old memory where I installed the new, and the new where the old once was. Now all of a sudden I am getting 3 showing up in the bios, but I'm missing my oldest one in D1. It is showing as empty in the bios, even though CPU-Z shows that 32 is installed.

What could the issue be? Do I need to put more power into the ram? I've never messed around with that so I'm not sure how. I know it shouldn't be hard, though.

What could cause 3 of the ram to show when I have (A1: Ballistix) (B1: Ballistix) (C1: G-skill) (D1: G-skill), but not when I have the pairs swapped?

Thanks in advance.
