Specification for the motherborad states that PCI Express 3.0 x16 Slot support PCIe riser cards to extend one x16 slot to two x8 slots. I could not find that riser card anywhere. Can someone suggest which card can I use and where to find it?

I too am now in this boat and am needing some suggested solutions for a riser card. I am building a custom micro PC and need x8 for one GPU and x8 for two additional m.2 slots. Any leads would be appreciated, thanks!

PCIe riser cards are just that: a card that fits the PCIe slot and has a slot higher or at 90 degrees from the original. The only x16 to dual riser I have seen is for servers, all others do not have two "raised" PCIe slots. The cards for servers are shown here:
http://www.acmemicro.com/Products/Peripherals/Riser-Cards Standard PCIe riser cards are like this: https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-Express-Adapter-Servers-PEX16RISER/dp/B002M1DHJG If you need more slots then you should have considered that before buying an ITX motherboard........... |

Actually my requirements were for small form factor, and considering I am using a single slot GPU and would use the extra lane for m.2, I am the target audience for this board, that is if it truly offers x16 breakout although I don't have much knowledge in this area, hence my posting here. I bought this board because I needed one GPU and two total m.2's and the on-board thunderbolt was worth it in it's own right. Micro ATX is too large for a PC being used with my TV. Question still stands, does anyone know what Risers ASRock recommends to use with this board? Since this is a claimed feature I will be pressing until I get some sort of lead lol. Thanks. |

ASRock support finally got back to me, this has only been tested in their lab with one particular riser. The model suggested is "ARC1-PELY423-CxV3", and the actual product can be found at: http://www.ameri-rack.com/ARC2-PELY423-C7_m.html
Also stated in the email was apparently most Intel 300 chipsets actually support x16 to dual x8 bifurcation out-of-the-box, which actually makes me extremely giddy inside if this is true. Will have to research and post back here as well. AFAIK, trifurcation is not supported, but may be possible as well (x16>x8+x4+x4). As soon as I get a quote and more information back I will find out what the pricing from Ameri-Rack's product is, and if there is any special bussing going on. If this uses common signalling like ASRock said about 300 series Intel boards, I will purchase one or two alternate cheaper risers and let everyone know. Let me know if this helps anyone, I feel like I'm the only one trying to do this lol |

Glad you got a reply from Asrock. I am curious what case you will be using if that ARC2-PELY423-C7 riser works since it will require greater height and a 90 degree rotated back panel (for the GPU).
