Hi, after updating the BIOS to version 1.80 or 2.10, RAM performance has declined by almost half of what he had with version 1.60. I show images of AIDA 64 Memory benchmark.

Memory: HyperX Fury 2x8GB DDR4-2666

With BIOS 1.60

With BIOS 1.80 & 2.10

In all cases it is working with the XMP profile.

That is very odd, it almost looks like the system is operating in single channel mode in the second benchmark. Take a look using CPUz or another monitoring app to be sure dual channel is enabled on your system with the latest BIOS.

A UEFI/BIOS update resets every option to their default setting. It looks like you reset some thing like the speed of your memory or using the XMP profile, and your OC, but are you certain that ALL the BIOS settings are the same for BOTH benchmark tests? That means CPU power saving options, and any new options that may have been added with the new UEFI version.

I have never seen an option for dual channel operation, that happens automatically when the appropriate DIMM slots are populated. But I would agree the result seem like the number of DIMMs was reduced by half. The write speed is almost 1/4 of what it was in the first test.

If that is caused by the UEFI update, by something the user does not have access to, then it either needs to be explained or fixed.

Neither have I, as you said it is automatically enabled so if it isn't then something is clearly not working as it should. I haven't seen this kind of performance loss without removing a DIMM from the system. It may be that the new BIOS changed the slot configuration for dual channel operation or disabled a feature that permitted dual channel to operate with the DIMMs in the wrong slots.

I would remove the RAM and insert it into the slots indicated in the manual for dual channel operation (if they are not already) then clear CMOS and see if that brings things back in line with the first benchmark.

Thanks for the answers. Indeed, memories are working in dual channel and positioned according to the manual in the appropriate slots. ASRock is apparently doing a very bad job with the new BIOS versions, I have returned to 1.60.
