Hi,
I'm looking at the documentation for the X299 taichi motherboard, and would like some clarifications before buying. It will be used with a 44lanes CPU. The documentation is stating the following: * If you install CPU with 44 lanes, PCIE1/PCIE2/PCIE3/PCIE5 will run at x16/x8/ x16/x0 or x8/x8/x16/x8. In the PCI-e slots configuration (p.20) there is nothing about the PCI-e lanes allocation for 4GPUs. Section 2.9 (p.32) is talking about Quad SLI things but there is no section about the Quad SLI. Actually I don't really need SLI, just 4 GPUs. Is this motherboard able to handle 4 GPUS at at least x8 ? And if so, how will the m.2 slots behave ? I'm open to go for a 2.5 inches sata ssd. Thanks, Thomas. |

Dear wrThomas,
Regarding your question, X299 Taichi can support 4 GPU when 44 lanes CPU is in used. The 4 GPU will work at one x16 mode and three x8 mode. Because all the M.2 slots don't share lanes with PCIe slots, when 4 GPU connected, three M.2 slots can be used. *If M2_1 is occupied by a SATA-type M.2 device, SATA3_1 will be disabled. *If M2_2 is occupied by a SATA-type M.2 device, SATA3_0 will be disabled. *If M2_3 is occupied by a SATA-type M.2 device, SATA3_7 will be disabled. https://www.asrock.com/MB/Intel/X299%20Taichi/index.asp#Specification Thank you! Yours truly, ASRock TSD |
