Hey guys,

I'm running a B450 Pro4 with an AMD Ryzen 5 2600, Samsung 500GB 970 Evo NVMe SSD in M2_1, two SSDs and two HDDs on SATA3_3, SATA3_4, SATA3_A1, SATA3_A2, GTX 1060 in PCIE2. M2_2 and PCIE4 are empty. The system is running and stable on the newest BIOS.

I know from the manual that when using M2_1, PCIE4 is disabled and that when using M2_2, SATA3_3 and SATA3_4 are disabled.

Interestingly, with my board when SATA3_1 and / or SATA3_2 are in use, M2_1 does not work. Doesn't matter if it's an NVMe or SATA drive in M2_1, it just is not detected. As soon as SATA3_1 and SATA3_2 are empty, drives in M2_1 are detected again.

Is this expected behavior? Is it possible the board might be faulty? Are there any switches to be flicked or jumpers to be bridged to get this working? I could not find any information about SATA3_1, SATA3_2 and M2_1 interfering with each other what so ever in the manual.

Thanks in advance for any input on this.

Look at https://www.amd.com/en/products/chipsets-am4
and scroll down to Specifications:

B450: 4 + x2 NVMe (or 2 SATA 1 x4 NVMe on AMD Ryzen Processor)

It looks like you have to configure M2_1 to use 2 PCIe lanes instead of 4 in the bios, if you want to use all four SATA3_X ports and M2_1!

SATA3_A1, SATA3_A2 are handled by the ASMedia ASM1061 chip, i think.

Hey Ray62,

I did not yet think so far as to look up the AM4 specs. Thanks for the heads up. As soon as I'm back from holidays and have access to my system again I'll give it a try.

Thanks a lot.
