My 990FX Extreme9 - BEAST PC

yea nice build there.extreme9 is overheating ?i also had am3 kit asus sabertooth mobo and the vrm was overheating pretty bad like 65 C.now i have killer a88x mobo  fm2+ and is ok,  no temp problems running smooth.

I will try theese days, thing is that the hdd cage it's orientated not so good for arranging the psu cables( it's not vertical on motheboard), and it's full, 4HDD hard to find enough space to conduc the cables between HDD-s.

I built this pc this year in early spring, in march. And i have to say i love it, it's powerful, it's a "BEAST" with some overclock and after 2-3 years of Intel PC's, i have to say it's cheap and in the same time powerful and good for gaming.   
The PC it's composed from these components:

CPU: AMD FX 8300
Motheboard: Asrock 990FX Extreme9
VGA : ASUS R9 280X DirectCu V2
PSU : Cougar GX 800W 80+ Gold
RAM: Corsair Domninator GT 1866C9 2*4GB
4* 2TB HDD
1* SSD OCZ ARC 100 for operating sistem
COOLER: AIO Raijintek Triton.
CASE: Game Daemon 5001
Monitor: Philips 237EQPH 23.6" IPS FULL HD

Top of the case i have a removable transparent panel, you can see the 2 120mm fans of the AIO cooler.

And finaly THE heart of the BEAST, it's formed from 3 principal components:
The motheboard- Asrock 990FX Extreme9, the cpu - FX 8300 the cheapest 8core FX cpu and with 95W TDP and the VGA, Asus R9 280X DirectCu V2, enough powerful even in our days for full HD gaming.





And now let's talk a little more about the motheboard:
Asrock 990FX Extreme9 specification, performance and my opinion review


First off all, why i choose this motheboard? Because i wanted to try the alternative to Asus monopoly on AMD socket, Asus Crosshair I, II, III, IV...Asus had for long time the king crown on AMD2, AM2+, AM3, AM3+ sockets, Gigabyte was not so good and Asrock the third place on top motheboards.
Also Asrock 990FX Extreme9 it's cheaper 20-30$ than Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z
After the great success on Intel with Oc Formula Series and Extreme9, i wanted to see what can Asrock do for AMD fans.

I also was and i am pleased with the next features of the motheboard:

WRM, the greatest point of the motheboardm 12+2 phases


After more than half of a year of utilization i can say that the motheboard it's very stable and reliable, very strong on overclocking.
The bios it's good and simple and you have some heavy overclocking options, like: 2.0v for cpu voltage, 2.0v for cpu NB. Only not so good option for heavy overclock, only 1.80v maxim voltage for DDR3 memory.
With proper cooling( you need for AMD FX, AIO or liquid cooling) i succeded some exceptional overclocking results:
4.8ghz stable daily use:


8.22pts on Cinebench R11.5 from stock FX 8300 5.66pts at 3.30Ghz


With some overclocking on video card too, 1100/6600(core memory) i have P10139 o 3DMARK11 Performance, a pretty good score:

So there are many positive things and experiences with Asrock Extreme9: wonderful experience, robust construction, extreme overclocking, easy bios and other, but there are also some negatives:

No M.2. SATA connector
Only 1.8v vDDR voltage(for extreme overclocking to little)
For USB 3.0 Asrock used Etron EJ188H chip which sometimes gives random crashes and blocking, and some fluctuating USB 3.O speed at reading from USB devices.
A little less SATA3 performance than on Intel chipsets.

Picture it's made with a 2400C9 kit Samsung IC's which i sold it, not good for extreme benching with only 1.8v.
