Publication:

AMD Report:

AMD Processors affected:
https://www.amd.com/en/resources/product-security/bulletin/amd-sb-7029.html

My SuperPC 2023 on which I would like to run blockchains sometimes may need to be protected agains this.

Assuming this is my motherboard:
https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B650E%20Steel%20Legend%20WiFi/index.nl.asp#BIOS

The latest BIOS seems to be:

"Update AGESA to ComboAM5 1.2.0.3e Patch A for upcoming CPU compatibility."

AMD claims mitigation are in versions:

ComboAM5PI 1.2.0.3 + OS Updates (2025-01-08)
ComboAM5PI 1.0.0.a + OS Updates (2025-01-14)
ComboAM5PI 1.1.0.3c+ OS Updates (2025-01-27)

Which Windows 11 updates/patches would be necessary ? This remains unexplained.

Is it already fixed in Windows 11 ?

Can ASRock confirm these bios updates contain the fixes necessary to protect the processor against exploitation ?

What will the performance impact on the system ?

(Also what is the quality of these bios updates, any risks of components failing, like soundchips, harddisk support, ssd support, etc ?)

I find this confusing:

Why are there two different B650 models of Steel Legend Wi-Fi motherboard ?
Is one newer than the other ?
Is it updated/improved ?
Or bait and switch strategy ?

Very strange:

Do both versions share the same bios ? Seems so...

Apperently I have the second one which came with the graphics card holder.

The first/left one does not seem to have it:

Second one seems to have same link to bios page as previously posted in original posting:

They have different chipsets, B650 and B650E. I found this link that explains the
difference:
https://www.corsair.com/us/en/explorer/gamer/gaming-pcs/b650-vs-b650e-which-chipset-should-you-choose/

Basically, the added E denotes differences in the PCIe faculties of the chipset.
I like to think of the E standing for Enhanced.

Hope this clarifies things
